This 2168 page collection is one of the most helpful but overlooked resources for those with Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec roots. The Branch News was more a journal than a newsletter. Issues routinely featured historical record transcriptions, local history, family history and so much more. This collection is completely searchable by any name or word, or access any issues individually. There is a separate collection available for 1970 to 2008
Contents include:
- Introduction
- Images of all pages from the Ottawa Branch News and The Ottawa Genealogist issues from 2009 to 2017 as originally published by Ottawa Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society (OGS) and organized chronologically with links to every issue from a table of contents

About Ottawa Branch News / The Ottawa Genealogist
Ottawa Branch News issues are filled with useful information for those researching their Ottawa Valley roots. More than a Society newsletter, issues contain contributions of extracts of vital records and family histories.
The Ottawa Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society was formed in 1970. The first issue of the newsletter was published in April of that year. A separate pdf publication is available from Global Heritage Press / GlobalGenealogy.com Inc. issues from 1970 to 2008. The periodical was called Ottawa Branch News, from its inception until January of 2010, though early editions displayed the words "Branch News" prominently on the cover. The publication was renamed The Ottawa Genealogist beginning with the first issue of 2010.
The images in this digital resource came from the original electronic printing master files and so
are of excellent quality. Blank pages have been removed.

Reviews:
What a treasure trove! While testing the search tool during development of this resource, I found many new pieces for my personal family history. Surprisingly, when I searched the surname of one of my maternal ancestors, I found a letter that was submitted to an early 1980s issue of the Ottawa Branch News asking the membership if anyone had information about one of his ancestors. I have known the writer of that letter since we were in grade school. It turns out that my life-long friend and I are both descended from that ancestor... neither of us knew that we are related. So much to find in this collection. - Rick Roberts, Global Genealogy
