BOOK FORMAT

Compiled by Duncan (Darby) MacDonald C.D., U.E., F.S.A. Scot

This book is a detailed genealogy of the MATTICE family, descendants of whom migrated to Upper Canada (Ontario) as United Empire Loyalists after the American Revolution. This genealogy reaches back to Casper Matheus (Mattice) who was born in Germany in 1636. The next generation migrated to America seeking opportunity. This genealogy works forward in time, generation by generation including those who remained loyal to the Crown during the American Revolution and later removed from their homes in New York State to the Cornwall area of Upper Canada (Ontario).

The genealogy was designed using a genealogy software program. That means that the structure/organization of information is easy to follow and will be familiar to many. The comprehensive nominal Index helps readers locate specific people quickly and easily. The pdf download version is every-word searchable.

Historic photographs of several Mattice descendants are included in the book. It's very easy to find the persons you are interested in by using the detailed Index to the Mattice genealogy.

Contents include:

  • Introductory remarks
  • Photograph of G. F. Wheeler
  • Detailed genealogy of the MATTICE family 1636-1999 (Descendant style with many photos throughout)

NOTE about reprint quality:
GlobalGenealogy.com acquired MacDonald Research Centre after the passing of its founder and primary transcriber/compiler, Duncan MacDonald. We are pleased to make his books available under the new MacDonald Research imprint. Each book has been reprinted as it was prepared by Mr. MacDonald, without corrections or additions. Modern technology helped us reproduce the original work in as-good-as, or better quality as that which was originally published. Much of MacDonald's original work was created on a typewriter. His well-worn "masters" were made on a photocopier. We've cleaned them up as much as possible without re-keying all of the content resulting in books that are useful and complete, but of a print quality that reflects the technology of the time in which they were originally published.
