Gore District included the present counties of Wentworth, Halton, Brant, Waterloo & Wellington, and parts of Haldimand and Lincoln counties. In June of 1840, the counties of Waterloo and Wellington were separated out of the Gore District to form the Wellington District. See the Background section below for details.

Background: This volume of the District Vital Records Series combines a variety of parish records and other vital documents to not only replace but to go beyond what should have existed for the Gore District had the early marriage register survived. We hope this new series will provide researchers with the tools to learn about the individuals and families of the Gore District through the birth, baptism, marriage, death, burial and other vital records that survive today .
