While researching his grandmother who was one of the British home children who came to Canada in 1872 under the auspices of Maria Rye from a Kensington Workhouse in St Mary Abbot's Parish in London England. Jim's search for information introduced him to the Marchmont Home. He discovered much critical opinion about Home Children. He was convinced that the truth lay not in the opinion of the critics but in the stories and letters of the Home Children themselves.

This book is written solely to provide information from research on those who experienced Marchmont Distributing Home in Belleville, Ontario firsthand. Those who faced bleak and terrible times in England but, in coming to Canada, altered those odds drastically to become the successes they were.

These are new books for less than used copies. It sells on the used book market (eBay, ABE, Amazon in Jan 2025) for between $60-$70.
