Father Dominique du Ranquet, a Jesuit born in 1813 in Chalus, France, arrived in Canada on May 31, 1842. later serving in missions of Northern Great Lakes region of Ontario. This is a translated edition of the 'copy' of the original diaries of Ranquet as published by Maynard in French, then later translated into English by William Lonc S.J., and Shelley Pearen for this 2013 edition. 

A captivating view of mid 19th century Northern Ontario, recorded and presented in chronological order, each chapter containing a calendar year.   The book includes a comprehensive index.
