    Background: The original Niagara District Marriage Register does not survive. In an attempt to capture some of this lost early information for the district, Dan Walker and Fawne Stratford-Devai, with the help of Marilyn Jackson and Brenda Young have begun to assemble and publish all existing vital records (early birth, baptism, death and burial records as well as similar yet unknown vital records) for the Niagara District.

    An example of some of the towns and townships where events occurred and were reported in the Niagara District Vital Records transcriptions include: Niagara township, St. Catharines, Chippawa, Thorold township, Caistor township, Stamford, Moulton township, Grimsby, Louth township, the Falls, Crowland township, Gainsborough, Grantham, Humberstone, Newark (now Niagara-on-the-Lake), the town of Niagara, Queenston, Pelham township, Rainham township, Stamford township, Wainfleet township, the town of Dundas, Walpole township, Trafalgar, Saltfleet, the Grand River, Nelson township, Glanford township, Clinton township, Ancaster and many more areas not noted in the records.
