By Duncan (darby) MacDonald U.E.
This is the second volume of transcribed baptism, burial and marriage registers of St. Regis Roman Catholic Mission in Hogansburg, New York. The mission began as an early Jesuit Mission that served Roman Catholics in northeastern New York State on the side of the St. Lawrence River, South Glengarry Township in Eastern Ontario, and also parts of southeastern Quebec.
In addition to the records of nearby South Glengarry Township in Ontario, Part Two includes early records of the Parish of St. Patrick's, Hoganburg, New York, plus many additions and corrections to Part One... as well as early records of St. Andrews West, St Raphaels, Cornwall (Eastern Ontario), Indian Lands, Long Sault and adjoining areas.
Part Two 1831-1879 contents include:
- Introduction
- The Gareau Family
- A native and French family genealogy
- Copies of original entries
- 1868 newspaper article
- A sample entry in Parish Register
- Rev. Marcoux's Index 1836-1866
- About Rev. Roderick MacDonell

Please note: Mr. MacDonald created the paper masters for these books in the 1980s using a photocopier. The publisher (2010) digitally cleaned the masters to the best that they can be, reproducing the work onto high quality paper using the latest digital print technology. The result is quite readable, though some photographs and photocopies of documents are not at the standard that we expect today. Unfortunately MacDonald "In general".... "did not include the entries for the native Indians of St. Regis" unless the rite included a settler or an indigenous person MacDonald considered notable.
