This book provides much detail about those Massachusetts individuals who remained Loyal to the Crown during and after the American Revolution. The largest section of the book is Biographies of the Loyalists of Massachusetts. The list of those who are included in the book is extensive (see the Index below in the 'Contents include' section of this page).

The author begins with an examination of the conditions, circumstances and motives that led to the American Revolution, followed by an account of the events of the Revolution itself. He dedicates a complete chapter to the expulsion of the Loyalists and their role in the "establishment of Canada".
