Collection: American Revolution
Britain mobilized to quash a rebellion in its American colonies in 1775. Rebels formed militias to take on the British military and to discourage colonials who remained loyal to the crown. The rebels prevailed, resulting in the signing of the Treaty of Paris in 1783. An exodus of Loyalists followed with the majority resettling in Canada.
